Bluff catcher

A hand that can only win by calling down an opponent who is bluffing.

In depth

A bluff catcher is a hand that wins only by calling down an opponent who is bluffing, as it loses to all legitimate value bets. It is neither strong enough to value bet nor weak enough to fold outright, relying solely on the opponent’s bluffing frequency to justify a call. This concept applies when the hand cannot beat any range the opponent would bet for value, making the decision dependent on pot odds and the likelihood of a bluff.
