Tell

A physical or behavioral clue that reveals information about a player's hand.

In depth

A tell is a physical or behavioral clue that inadvertently discloses information about a player’s hand. These cues—such as gestures, timing, or expressions—emerge in live play and vary in reliability, offering contextual insights when compared to a player’s typical behavior. While tells operate within poker’s psychological dimension, they supplement rather than replace strategic analysis.
