Rake

The fee taken by the house from each pot or tournament entry.

In depth

**Rake** is the fee charged by the poker room, deducted from each pot in cash games or included in tournament entry fees. This house revenue reduces players' net winnings and represents a fixed cost that must be accounted for in long-term profitability. Unlike other bets, the rake permanently leaves the game as operational income.
