Block bet

A small bet made out of position to set a cheap price and discourage a bigger bet.

In depth

A block bet is a small wager made out of position to set a low price, discouraging an opponent from making a larger bet. This defensive play aims to control pot size and limit exposure to aggressive betting while allowing the bettor to reach showdown economically. Unlike value bets or bluffs, its purpose is to cap the opponent’s potential aggression.
