Overbet
Betting more than the size of the current pot.
In depth
An overbet is a bet that exceeds the size of the current pot. It is used to apply significant pressure by creating unfavorable pot odds for opponents, typically polarizing the bettor’s range between very strong hands and bluffs. Unlike smaller bet sizes, overbets are less common and often employed in later betting rounds to maximize value or force folds.
