High card

The weakest hand category, ranked only by its highest cards when no pair is made.

In depth

**High card** is the weakest hand ranking in poker, determined solely by the highest individual cards when no player forms a pair or stronger combination. If all hole cards fail to connect with the board, the winner is decided by comparing the top card, then the next highest, and so on. It serves as the baseline hand, positioned below one pair in the standard hierarchy.
